Light Appeal
With elegant shutter-framed windows, this home at Tanglin Hill draws light in easily and had plenty of potential.
A central light well was the key to unlocking a radical, yet sensitive, reconfiguration of the space. It becomes the unifying thread that let light spill into the space. Small, dark areas became visually accessible and connecting each space into a flowing plan.
Hidden treasures were revealed during the work, like a partially wooden feature wall, an inviting foyer and a bright dining space. The warm tones of timber prevent a feeling of sterility, which extends to clad walls and structural pillars in the main living room. The interplay between colourful objects from all over the world and the contemporary setting makes for a stimulating aesthetic.
The mix of modern and classical furniture and décor transforms this home into a relaxed space feels comfortable in its urban surroundings.
